Sri Lanka is dealing with an injury alert in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket   World Cup Qualifier 2023 . Dilshan Madushanka will perform for Sri Lanka instead of Dushmantha Chameera in the World Cup match. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023’s Event Technical Committee has given the green light for a player substitution. Yannic Cariah, who suffered a nose injury during a training session, has been replaced by Kevin Sinclair in the West Indies squad. The approval of the Event Technical Committee is necessary for any player replacement to be officially added to the squad.  The committee is composed of Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events (Chair); Sarah Edgar, ICC Representative; Hamilton Masakadza, Host Tournament Director; Dirk Viljoen, Host Nominee; Pommie Mbangwa (Independent); Natalie Germanos (Independent), and Gurjit Singh, Managing Committee Affairs. Sinclair is expected to join the West Indies team on June 29 before their match against Scotland on July 1 in Harare.

The ECB has apologized after an ICEC report revealed evidence of discrimination in English cricket

On June 26, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued an apology to those who have experienced racial discrimination in the sport. This apology followed the release of a report by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC), which provided evidence of discrimination and highlighted the presence of “structural and institutional racism, sexism, and class-based discrimination” within the ECB . The board acknowledged the report and expressed a commitment to making changes to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. ECB Chair Richard Thompson apologized to those who have felt excluded from cricket and announced plans to develop a comprehensive strategy in collaboration with the ICEC’s recommendations. Thompson emphasized that cricket should be accessible to everyone and expressed regret for the historical neglect of women and Black people within the sport.

Gavaskar believes that the focus should have been on the players who are certain to participate in the ODI World Cup later this year, suggesting that they should have concentrated solely on white-ball cricket. Gavaskar expressed his views on Sports Today, stating, “The World Test Championship is now out of reach. We missed our chance there.
